Job Purpose:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Lead to oversee and enforce safety practices across a multi-disciplinary construction project. The role requires ensuring compliance with health and safety standards during activities that include excavation, demolition, concrete works, steel erection, elevator installation, electrical works, and fire protection network modifications. The successful candidate will act as the first line of defense in creating a culture of safety, ensuring all site operations are carried out with the highest regard for people and environment.
What you will be doing:
- Carry out daily site inspections to identify hazards and verify compliance with safety requirements across excavation, demolition, structural, and MEP activities.
- Review and approve method statements, risk assessments, safety plans, and rescue procedures to ensure they are practical, targeted, and aligned with project work scope.
- Check tools, equipment, machinery, and lifting gear to confirm adherence to relevant safety standards.
- Deliver engaging daily Toolbox Talks (TBTs), reinforcing key safety messages and cultivating an awareness-driven workforce.
- Maintain thorough daily reports documenting unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, near-misses, and corrective actions taken.
- Monitor contractor performance to confirm adherence to industry best practices, client requirements, and local regulatory compliance.
- Lead and support incident investigations, identifying root causes and ensuring corrective and preventive measures are implemented.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of safety culture through training, mentoring, and proactive engagement with the workforce.
Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in risk assessment and hazard identification specific to excavation, steel erection, and MEP works.
- Skilled in conducting safety audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
- Experienced in incident/accident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Well-versed in emergency preparedness and response planning.
Soft Skills
- Confident communicator, capable of influencing teams and fostering a positive safety culture on site.
- Effective leadership and problem-solving abilities, especially in high-pressure situations.
- Sharp attention to detail, with an ability to anticipate risks before they materialize into safety issues.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in Construction site management.
- NEBOSH/OSHA/IOSH certification or equivalent international safety qualification.
- Proven experience as an HSE Lead or Supervisor within large-scale construction projects.
- Familiarity with excavation, structural erection, and MEP activities is highly desirable.
